Welcome to slothropia. I appreciate your ironic humor. I mean Hirner an extreme progressive? I guess that sobriquet should apply to anyone who wasn't at Beckapalooza last Saturday, 8/28.

I think it's interesting that the AF's cover for the Suburbs is so closely nostalgic and removed from Pynchon's Inherent Vice in simple style and appeal. Covers aren't just chosen randomly. Both are perfectly representative.

Most often - but not always - Senators and Representatives vote with their party for or against a bill, amendment or resolution. I put links to summaries of the bills I describe so you can see for yourself what they are about and what they do. You can also go to the House Clerk's website (also a link) and read the whole piece of legislation if you want.

Finally, I ascribe political motives for the way Reps and Senators vote. That is my opinion based on observation and analysis and I take responsibility for it. Do you think Aaron Schock and the Republicans are not more favorable to corporations and their interests than most Democrats? Even when those corporate interests conflict with those of their constituents? Pay attention to what Republicans have been saying about BP lately.

Right on ck.

For U.S.ian readers the reference is to Steve Harper PM of Canada Inc.

Note that Harper is following the Republican playbook to the degree that Canadian political culture will allow.

I'm far more concerned about being prisoner to this corporate facism is Steve gets his precious majority, especially after he drops the 1.95$/vote subsidy
